Game of SKATEIf you missed the 2009 East Meets West Game of Skate then you missed one of the most epic battles of SKATE we’ve ever seen. 108 skaters went head to head until there was only one guy left.A Game of SKATE is similar to "HORSE" in basketball. Skateboarders went head-to-head performing tricks. When one skater completed a trick the other repeated it or took a letter from the word S-K-A-T-E. Skaters who collected all 5 letters dropped out, and the winner proceeded to the next round. The winner of this year’s Game of Skate was Doug Nehrend from Sheffield Lake. Thanks to everyone who came out to participate and watch the tournament. The Game of SKATE was planned and sponsored by Public Square Group, Slavic Village Skaters, and Slavic Village Development. Thanks to all the skateboard shops for their donations: West Side Skates, Martini Skate and Snow, Wood Pushers, Ohio Surf and Skate, Village Boards, and Fable Skateboards. For more information on how to get involved with skateboarding projects in Slavic Village contact Jacob VanSickle at 216-429-1182, ext. 107. In the mean time check out the video from this years tournament.
