Blight Turns To Beauty
Since 2014, this community art project has been transforming demolition-worthy houses into temporary art exhibits but we began a new approach in 2021 by activating vacant storefronts. In 2024, we will pivot again, this time bigger and better than before, in a 250,000-square-foot industrial complex.

From houses to storefronts to industrial
Traditionally set in vacant houses set for demolition, Rooms To Let: CLE is using 2024 to transform spaces again, this time exploring an industrial warehouse! Working with local artists and business owners, the project will use adapted temporary and semi-permanent art installations to beautify a 250,000 sq ft space.
Additionally, preceding the event weekend, artists, community members, and volunteers will come together for beautification street clean-ups around the E 55th location.
We invite neighbors to join the effort as an artist or clean up volunteer. Stay tuned for announcements on the Rooms To Let: CLE Facebook page.

Want to participate as an artist?
Artists interested in transforming storefront and lot spaces will be selected by the curators through an open call for artists process which opens in late February 2024.
Rooms to Let: CLE offers a unique opportunity for the participating artists to interact with the community, bringing beauty and dialogue around the effects of the foreclosure crisis and how a neighborhood can positively evolve in the aftermath.
