Slavic Village Development is seeking to add 10 new Community Stewards to educate themselves and spark neighborhood progress over the next year. If you are an active member of the Slavic Village community and want to improve your skills to lead, contribute to our neighborhood’s plan, and partner with fellow neighbors, we encourage you to apply before September 1st.

What is a Community Steward? A neighbor who cares about their community and wants to build bridges through connecting, learning, and practicing with other people from the Broadway Slavic Village neighborhood.

Slavic Village Development (SVD) is leading the way with a modern approach to building community through a cultural shift of stewardship; depending on residents, stakeholders and partners to drive our neighborhood toward progress. You may already be involved, and this is an opportunity to expand your knowledge, network and impact through community building.

As a Steward you would be expected to:

●             Attend educational workshops including Leadership Training from Neighborhood Connections, Trauma Training from MetroHealth and Racial Equity Training provided by the Racial Equity Institute.

●             Help develop a Neighborhood Plan using the EcoDistrict Protocol, a new standard for urban and community development built around three distinct imperatives or principles: Equity, Resilience and Climate Protection.

●             Connect with residents in your neighborhood to bridge them to resources and partner on projects.

We are looking to recruit 10 new enthusiastic and committed community residents to join 10, 2nd year community stewards. Stewards serve this role starting October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021. Applicants who are selected will be compensated for their time with a $1,000 stipend for the year, distributed quarterly ($250 per quarter).

Applications are due back to Slavic Village Development by Tuesday September 1, 2020 via mail (5620 Broadway Ave Cleveland, OH 44127) or email (
