SVD’s 50/50 Repair Program:

The 50/50 home repair program is available to seniors or to persons with a disability to help with one home repair project such as a furnace, porch or roof. This program offers a 50% reimbursement matching dollar for dollar matching up to $1500.00. This program is reimbursement based.

Home Repair Loan Program:

Are you in the market for new windows, roofing, insulation or other property improvements? Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland offers a Home Repair Loan Program to help you with energy efficient repairs, saving you money and substantially upgrading your home.

Their home repair loan program gives homeowners the extra attention needed when starting a rehab project; assisting you with job specifications, cost estimates, contractor selection, and oversight of your project. NHS of Greater Cleveland provides a mortgage product that is affordable and accessible to many of those who may not be able to access conventional lending products.

Down Payment Assistance

Although there is not a specific down payment assistance program in the City of Cleveland, occasionally financial institutions offer financial assistance programs. Application for a down payment assistance program is usually made at or before your mortgage application.

Third Federal Saving and Loan’s HomeReady Program, offers $3,000 of down payment assistance with only 3% down with home buyer education classes.

Afford-A-Home

Administered by the City of Cleveland Division of Neighborhood Services, Afford-A-Home helps home buyers purchase and repair affordable Cleveland homes. Along with local banks and neighborhood housing organizations, the program offers low-interest loans and interest-free second mortgages in amounts of $10,000 or $20,000.   For more information, call (216) 664-2045 or click here.

Tax Abatement

The City of Cleveland’s Residential Tax Abatement program offers temporary elimination of 100 percent of the increase in real estate property tax for eligible projects. It is available to stimulate investment in new development or redevelopment in the City of Cleveland. The length or term of abatement varies from 10 to 15 years depending on type of project. Qualifying types of development include new construction, conversion of nonresidential buildings to residential units, rehabilitation of existing homes and home improvements costing over $2,500.  For more information, click here.
